Simply Danish

Das Berliner Ehepaar Marion und Jörg Schwandt war jahrelang am HammerClub beteiligt. Ihre Sammlung von Silberschmuck wird in der Ausstellung “Simply Danish” im Bröhan Museum in Berlin präsentiert. Gezeigt werden rund 170 Silberschmuckarbeiten von 48 dänischen Künstlern, darunter Ikonen wie Georg Jensen oder Mogens Ballin. Die Sammlung gibt einen Überblick der verschiedenen Strömungen des dänischen Schmuck-Designs im 20. Jahrhundert. Das Spektrum reicht von floral gestalteten Gürtelschließen des Jugendstils, über konstruktive Arbeiten aus den 1930er Jahren bis hin zu den typisch organischen Formen der 1950er Jahre. Silberschmuck der späteren Jahrzehnte spiegelt die Vorliebe der dänischen Schmuckkünstler und Werkstätten für Formen und Materialkombinationen wider.

For years the Berlin couple Marion and Jörg Schwandt participated in the HammerClub. Their collection of silver jewelery is now presented in the exhibition “Simply Danish” in the Bröhan Museum in Berlin. Approximately 170 works of silver jewelery by 48 Danish artists, including icons like Georg Jensen or Mogens Ballin, is on show. The collection gives an overview of the various trends in Danish jewelery design in the 20th century. The spectrum ranges from floral Art Nouveau belt buckles, to constructive works from the 1930s and the typically organic forms of the 1950s. Silver jewelery of the later decades reflects the preference of the Danish jewelery artists and workshops for geometric shapes and material combinations.
