With silver as a base for sculptures, silversmith Daan Brouwer shows the constant change of form under the motto: ´Everything flows, nothing stays´. The objects he makes, are autonomous and applied art. In the perspective of three-dimensional arts, he honors the tradition of silversmithing with his objects.
In his studio in Haarlem, Daan Brouwer combines traditional silversmithing techniques with contemporary production methods, such as rapid prototyping. Dynamic forms and reflection of the material are central features in his work. This is expressed by surfaces that deform, curves and spheres and by geometric shapes that move and overflow into each other.
Silversmith Daan Brouwer: ‘As a little boy, the Silver Museum inspired me to become a silversmith and now I am here with my own collection. Many of my pieces consist of several parts and consecutive moments that represent an underlying idea or story. The various components interact and connect with each other in an intriguing way. This is exactly what my work stands for. ”
