Exhibition in the V&A Museum, London
Work of 18 British leading silversmiths will be on display at the acclaimed Silver Speaks: ‘Idea to Object’ exhibition in the V&A’s Silver Galleries, an initiative by Contemporary British Silversmiths. This free display is curated by design critic Corinne Julius and traces how a work in silver is brought into being from the inspiration, through sketches, models, material experimentation and construction processes, to the final piece.
The works have been specially selected for their craftsmanship and artistry. Each has been individually hand crafted in the UK by the makers in solid silver, using either a variety of traditional silversmithing techniques or modern methods such as rapid prototyping and 3D printing. The work encompass a variety of beautiful and intriguing objects – both sculptural and functional – created using a range of different processes, from the traditional to the most cutting edge.
It runs until 2nd July 2017.
Victoria and Albert Museum, London SW7 2RL.
A Silver Speaks brochure and catalogue are available online (postage rates apply).
